He said: 2 tongues I was very disappointed with Alor Cafe. It had crepes on the menu which you can't find in most places, but when we went there they were not serving dinner crepes. It seemed to me that the chef was too busy with his laptop to make them.
That being said, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that this is a nice, cozy place. The appetizers were great - I had the honey shrimp and the crispy rolls. I had the queso fundido burger which was very good. I enjoyed the cheesecake crepes as well.
I'll definitely be back at Alor to give it a second chance. I have high hopes.
She said: 3 tongues Crepes occupy a big part of their dinner menu which is why I was greatly disappointed when I went there and was told that crepes were not available! We had just come from a trip to Manila where we had fantastic crepes at Cafe Breton and was looking forward to duplicating that experience. It was only when the waitress saw the expression on our faces that she spoke to the chef and then told us that there would be crepes for the dessert, but none for the main course. Oh well, since we were already there, might as well try something else.
I like the presentation of their food - it was elegantly laid out on the plates. And I must say the food is imaginative and not quite something you would find at other places. We started with the honey shrimp and the crispy rolls. The shrimp was great but I must make a special comment on the rolls -they came with a fig walnut Thai dip. I've never had fig and was unsure how I would like it, but nevertheless ordered it. It was tasty and was a great complement to the rolls.
I had the blue cheese burger which was very good and more than made up for the fact that there were no dinner crepes! The blue cheese was just the right touch and did not overpower the taste of the burger. However, it did take about 30 minutes before they served the burger - a little slow for my taste, but hopefully just a fluke.
Now on to the dessert crepes. I had the chocolate banana crepe which I didn't enjoy at all. The chocolate sauce was a bit much and actually hurt my teeth.
For the most part, the food was interesting and delicious enough for me to want to go back and try some more. Maybe they'll have the whole line of crepes available by then!
